Squirrelling away for Winter

I love this time of year for food, especially the home-made variety! I find the preparation of delicious treats that can be stored away for the festive period a great way to relax and enjoy the Christmas build-up. A lot of the recipes are straight forward so can be enjoyed by everyone: young, old, cooks and non-cooks alike. The simpler the better in my opinion! Anything that has great ingredients and is allowed to sit and develop in flavour for a few weeks is going to give back to you ten-fold!

Over the last fortnight I have made Pickled pears, Dark Guinness Christmas pudding and a Mixed berry & elderflower gin. There's still more I plan to make but these were the ones that needed the longest time to mature. Not only will they be lovely to dig out of the pantry to share with friends and family over Christmas but they can also make super gifts that are not only beautiful and delicious but incredibly cost-effective too.

The next few posts will give the recipes so keep an eye out for those! Happy making.
