Who do you love?

However you plan to spend Valentines Day this year, make sure you take some time out to show yourself some love. It's all too easy to get caught-up in the traditional sense of the day and this can mean that we overlook something extremely important: that it's not only our partners that we love, nor is it only people with partners who love. Loving ourselves, our friends and our family is all just as important and this Sunday is a perfect opportunity to show them, although there's no need to limit it to only one day in the year, of course! ;-)

We are very lucky to be having some great friends coming to stay with us this weekend so in addition to reminding my husband how much he means to me I shall also be able to do the same with them and our children.

I think making food for people is a wonderful way of showing I care. I'll be preparing a special breakfast for us all to enjoy together then, as we all have young children, whilst there won't be any fancy meals out I will be making a real effort with a grown-up dinner in the evening once the children are all in bed. As a treat for the children I'll also be making them something very special for tea. I managed to find some heart-shaped pasta in Lidl yesterday that I think they'll all love.

I'll be posting my menus soon so if you're looking for some inspiration for a home-cooked Valentine's meal keep a watch out here.
